Government Grants for Renewable Investments

The South West is at the forefront of the UK’s renewable energy transition. To support this shift, government grants for renewable energy had been helping businesses cut energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. However, due to recent changes, grants are slowly becoming sparser with many now ending.

But there’s good news. The Green Business Grant is still open for SMEs wanting to invest in clean energy. In this post, we cover how to access and apply.

What is the Green Business Grants Scheme?

The Green Business Grants Scheme‘s purpose is to help small and medium businesses wishing to invest in renewable solutions and cut carbon emissions. The £2million grant is open until March 2026 but will only be available first come, first serve. Each application shall be assessed against a criterion and shall be awarded to those most suitable.

What does it cover?

Solar Panels, LED Lighting, heating upgrades, insulation and other energy efficient improvements

Why apply?

To lower operational costs and improve your businesses impact on the environment

Funding available:

Grants cover 30-60% of eligible project costs, up to £15,000

Deadline:

Applications are assessed continuously but funding must be used by March 2026.
